The British Bloodstock Marketing Committee
The British Bloodstock Marketing Committee meets with the BBM Team on a regular basis and its members include Richard Frisby, Grant Harris, Ron Huggins, Tim Kent, Matt Mitchell, James Oldring, Jason Singh and Ted Voute. All Committee members have a profound knowledge of the Racing and Breeding Industry and have a significant and valuable input into BBM.

Federation of Bloodstock Agents Representative
Richard Frisby, Bloodstock Agent

Richard Frisby founded his own agency, Richard Frisby Bloodstock Limited in August 2001, following sixteen years with the British Bloodstock Agency.

Prior to joining the BBA he spent a season with Sir Michael Oswald CVO, Manager of the Royal Studs, followed by a season preparing yearlings at Mill Ridge Farm in Kentucky. He then returned to Newmarket to assist former Racehorse Trainer, Ben Hanbury, prior to joining the BBA.

Richard was a director of the BBA with responsibility for the purchase of Racing and Breeding stock and the management of clients' bloodstock interests in the UK and many countries worldwide. Since inception, Richard Frisby Bloodstock has established itself as a leading Bloodstock Agency and principal domestic black type purchases and notable performers include: Please Sing, Dawnus, Londonnetdotcom, Satchem, Red Fort, Hotelgenie Dot Com, Corinium, Bianca Nera, Name Of Love, Maid For Walking, Maid For The Hills, Mitcham, Rio Duvida and Cheltenham Festival winner, My Young Man.

Weatherbys Representative
Grant Harris, Business Development Director

Since graduating from University, Grant Harris has always been involved in the Racing Industry, for which he is very passionate about.

His career has included roles as a Racing Journalist, seven years as Chief Executive of the National Trainers Federation and a spell as Assistant-Racing Director at the British Horseracing Board (now British Horseracing Authority).

Since 2004, Grant has worked at Weatherbys and is now the Head of the Business Development and New Media Team with direct responsibility for creating new business opportunities at home and abroad. This involves extensive travel to a host of overseas Racing and Breeding nations, both established and emerging ones. Grant is also a Trustee of the British Racing School.

Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association Representative
Ron Huggins, Racehorse Owner and Breeder

Ron Huggins was a member of the ROA Council for four years, a member of REL during 2007, and is currently an elected member of the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Council, and member of the TBA Executive and Finance Committee, as well as being a Director and Trustee of the Retraining of Racehorses Charity, and a member of the Jockey Club Rooms

Ron owns and manages a small stud at Selby's Farm in Kent where he has seven broodmares, and horses in training with Mark Johnston, David Elsworth and Jamie Poulton. He also has a strong French connection with horses in training with Philippe van de Poële in Deauville and mares at Haras d'Ellon.

Ron worked for Kimberly-Clark for thirty years before concentrating on his breeding operation. His background was in marketing, being responsible for international award winning TV advertising campaigns for Kleenex Tissues, the Andrex Puppy, and launching Huggies Nappies in the UK. Kimberly-Clark was also the number one radio advertiser in the UK. Ron went on to be a Board Member for 20 years, Managing Director in the UK and then a President of Kimberly-Clark in Europe.

The most successful horses Ron has owned have been Double Blue, Double Trigger, Double Eclipse, Double Honour and Crocodile Dundee. He bred the Group winners Star Valley and Cupla Cairde, and part owns Double Trigger standing at East Burrow Farm. Ron enjoys running the advertising and marketing campaigns for Double Trigger and Tobougg and works as a part-time marketing consultant in the Bloodstock industry.

Doncaster Bloodstock Sales Ltd Representative
Tim Kent, Marketing Manager

Tim Kent is a Director of Doncaster Bloodstock Sales Ltd. (DBS) and is responsible for the Marketing and promotion of the company

Tim graduated from Nottingham University in 2005, after which he completed the British Horseracing Authority Graduate Scheme where he worked at the Horserace Betting Levy Board before spending six weeks at York Racecourse.

The Racing and Bloodstock Industry has always been Tim's main interest and after bid spotting during the Autumn Sales, Tim was offered a six month work experience placement with DBS - after which he joined the DBS Team full time working in the Bloodstock Department. To further his experience of international bloodstock markets and sales, Tim spent an invaluable six months with Fasig-Tipton in Lexington, Kentucky where he gained a greater knowledge of the American racing industry. He has also worked at a number of Goffs Sales in Ireland.

Tim returned to DBS in January 2007 to take up his role as Marketing Manager. He started auctioneering in May 2007 and is also a DBS inspector for the Breeze-Up, Store and Yearling Sales.

Outside racing, Tim has a keen interest in country sports and spent several years point to pointing before he gave up in favour of a good meal! He still rides out regularly and owns a horse that he hunts throughout the winter.

Brightwells Auctioneers Representative
Matt Mitchell, Head of Bloodstock Sales

Matt Mitchell joined Brightwells Auctioneers in February 2008 as head of Bloodstock Sales.

A Business Studies graduate with a major in Marketing, Matt held a number of positions in Consumer Goods Marketing during his early career before joining Irish Thoroughbred Marketing as its first employee in January 1992.

From 2000-2007 Matt was Managing Director at Goffs Bloodstock Sales during a very successful period for the sales company.

Matt’s family background is involvement with Thoroughbred horses.

British Horseracing Authority Representative
James Oldring, Corporate Projects Manager

James Oldring is Corporate Projects Manager at the British Horseracing Authority, the governing body for British Horseracing. His role is varied but includes advising on corporate strategy and the research leading to formulation of corporate policy for horseracing; responsibility for negotiating the continuance of the VAT Scheme for Racehorse Owners with Government and the management of racing’s Industry Committee.

James has been part of British Bloodstock Marketing from its inception, and was heavily involved in the creation of the enterprise.

A graduate of English Studies from Nottingham University, James has been with the British Horseracing Authority for five and a half years, having previously worked at Newmarket, Huntingdon and Nottingham racecourses following completion of the British Horseracing Authority's Graduate Scheme in 2003. His love of horse racing stems from hands-on experience, having ridden out from the age of 12 and also having had over 100 rides in point to points and Hunter Chases from the ages of 16-24. James spent three years working full time in racing yards prior to attending University and also has experience working for a leading bookmaker.

James' other interests outside horseracing include snowboarding in as many different resorts/countries as possible, his Suzuki Sport motorbike and almost all sports, particularly rugby union and golf.
Tattersalls Ltd Representative
Jason Singh, Marketing Manager

Originally from Melbourne in Australia Jason Singh, graduated with an Honours degree in Statistics. His first full-time employment was as a Statistician for the credit reference agency, Experian, where he was based in Experian's Asia Pacific office. In 1998, Jason moved to England to take on a role at the National Air Traffic Services and in 2000, after responding to an advertisement in the Racing Post, Jason commenced work at Tattersalls, where he has been ever since.

A keen racing enthusiast from an early age, Jason has bloodstock interests in the UK and Australia and travels extensively in his role for Tattersalls.

ROA Representative
Ted Voute

Ted Voute is internationally renowned as a consignor of quality bloodstock. Since 1986 he has produced horses to the world's top sales on behalf of the world's leading breeders. Results in the sales ring and most importantly for both purchaser and breeder on the racetrack, established Ted Voute as one of Europe's premier Sales Consignor. He also have a wealth of experience, previously managing Adstock Manor Stud, Littleton Stud, and Fair Winter Farm; as well as Racing Manager for W and R Barnett Ltd.

Ted was elected to the ROA Council in 2007. Other positions held in racing administration include; past TBA Council member, member of TBA, member of Commercial Breeders Association USA, Code of Practice committee member, National Stud bloodstock advisor, Director of the Never Say Die Club, member Jockey Club ROOMS, Turf Club, Royal Ascot Racing Club, Thoroughbred Club of America USA.
